The first thing that comes to mind when I hear diabetes is no more sweets and desserts and all the items we all enjoy eating. Sugar is an absolute no-no, especially if you are a Type 2 Diabetic. This lifestyle disease has been a cause for concern in India now, as we all are aware. A person who has diabetes is often confused about what to include in their daily diet and what not.

Since sugar is cut out completely, people start using alternative sweeteners, which may or may not be natural. Having an Indian sweetener like jaggery works better here as we are all aware of its benefits and get it quickly. So instead of using stevia or any other such expensive sweeteners, is it better to use jaggery?

Jaggery is natural, made from raw sugarcane juice. In large shallow vessels, the juice is boiled to get jaggery. It is nutritionally rich in comparison to sugar and less refined too. Depending on the time taken to boil it, you get many variations of jaggery, which are better. The first raw by-product is Kaakvi, or liquid jaggery, rich in minerals and can easily be used as a sweetener.

Jaggery has many other health benefits too. Unlike processes sugar, jaggery doesn’t have any preservatives or chemicals. It is closer to its natural form. Here are some more benefits of jaggery –

Assist in Weight lossPrevents anemiaEases menstrual painCleanses the bodyBoosts immunityDetoxifies the liverPrevents constipationBlood Purifier

People with diabetes are commonly asked to avoid sweet food, in general, to maintain their blood sugar levels better. People with diabetes can switch to jaggery and have it in moderation. We have made it apparent that jaggery is far healthier than sugar. For people with diabetes, the quantity has to be minimal since the sugar content in jaggery is high, which may lead to a blood sugar spike for people with diabetes. They must be careful of this and switch to jaggery. Products like Kaakvi, a raw liquid form of jaggery, are better options for people with diabetes. You can check Kaakvi or liquid jaggery on Aazol order.
