How much more is there to say about the Perodua Myvi 2022? With over 1.3 million units sold since 2005 across three generations, Malaysians now refer to the Myvi as "monarch," however the term is somewhat joking. The Myvi is genuinely the "Love of the Nation."
It has held the sales crown since the first year. The Myvi's crosstown rival Proton has made an attempt to defeat it and is still making progress today. I don't have the numbers right now, but I'm prepared to venture a guess that the Proton Savvy's (2005–2013, smaller in size), Suprima S's (2013–2019, higher segment), and Iriz's (2014–present, direct rival) combined sales would be necessary to compete with the Myvi's monolithic sales.
Why are Myvi so well-liked? There’s no single answer, not with over 1m units sold, but as a former owner, I’d hazard a guess. Practical and roomy, affordable and trustworthy. Car guys may groan, but in case you didn't know, that's what everyday drivers want from a vehicle.
