Several metrics are offered by SEMrush in terms of helping you to search for the right keywords and tracking the progress of your campaigns. The amount of information is simply overwhelming, and to use this toolkit effectively, you will have to know what each of the metrics is offerings and the ones that can be ignored with the help of our semrush review.

We are aiming mainly on the keyword difficulty and the search volume in order to develop long-term growth content. SEMrush offers ease of access to this data throughout the platform while both the metrics are simply estimated as they are important to plan content.

We mainly are using a three-step approach while researching for the keywords with SEMrush. The following is how we undertake our approaches:

1. Make sure the keyword is appropriate for your target audience.

SEMrush will not be able to inform you whether a keyword is in actuality relevant to your topic or not. Ask yourself whether the visitors would actually be looking out for it or not. It is easy to skip this step as it is something that is important while you are assessing the larger list of keywords from one of SEMrush’s keyword tools.

For instance, if one of our clients is in the roofing business, then the keyword ‘roofing services’ might be a great opportunity, and you can also use “roofing service near me” as it is relevant to the keyword that you are in search for.

2. Evaluate the keyword difficulty (KD%).

The keyword difficulty metric of SEMrush will be estimating the amount of effort you will have to take for ranking a page on the top 10 results on Google for the specific keyword. The KD% is a potential metric when used consistently, being one of the most valuable resources available in the SEMrush platform.

On a scale of 1-100 is where keyword difficulty is ranked. A simple rule of thumb is to target the keywords with keyword difficulties near your domain authority, while there are several factors that will be affecting the site’s chances of ranking for high-difficulty keywords. Your main goal is to target the keywords that your site can capture realistically.

3. Prioritize keywords with higher search volume.

Lastly, we will be looking at the search volume that will be estimating the monthly organic traffic for the Google users. It is vital to keep in mind the numbers that are not accurate at all times, specifically for the low volumes of keywords. For example, you may get 10% of those clicks as you may get additional traffic out of the related key phrases that you do not intend on targeting if you are ranking in the third position for a keyword with 500 searches each month.

It is quite useful to plan out the campaigns that are delivering predictable results while the volume is just an estimate. If you are trying to decide whether to develop content for two keywords with identical KD%, focus on the option with the higher search volumes if you are building authority for a smaller site with the use of search volume as your guideline.

Meet your goals

According to the SEMrush review 2021, it offers various other metrics, and the way you are proceeding through each of the phases, you get a growth strategy with the additional details that may turn up to be pretty useful. There are, however, a few metrics that can be misleading.
