What is Stainless Steel ER-309LMo Filler Wires?
Stainless Steel ER-309LMo Filler Wires are an alloy made up of iron, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and manganese. This composition gives these filler wires excellent strength as well as corrosion resistance when compared to other alloys. These properties make them ideal for welding applications in chemical processing plants, oil refineries, and food processing plants, medical device manufacturing operations, chemical tankers, paper mills, and so much more.
Advantages of Stainless Steel ER-309LMo Filler Wires
The main advantage of using stainless steel ER-309LMo is its superior strength against corrosion compared to other alloys. This makes it particularly suitable for use in environments with high levels of humidity or where frequent exposure to water may occur. It also has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion which can be caused by exposure to certain chemicals or acids. Additionally, because this alloy resists scaling at temperatures up to 1600°F (871°C) it is often used in welded structures where long term exposure to extreme temperatures is expected. Finally, this alloy has excellent post weld ductility due to its low carbon content.
Uses of Stainless Steel ER-309LMo Filler Wires
SS ER-309LMo filler wires are most commonly used for welding austenitic stainless steels like 304/304H and 308/308H but they can also be used with other 300 series alloys such as 301/301H and 302/302H as well as some 400 series alloys like 410/410HTI and 430F/430FTI. They are ideal for welding components exposed to corrosive environments such as chemical storage tanks or heat exchangers where resistance against pitting or crevice corrosion is necessary. Additionally, these filler wires can be used on structural components exposed to elevated temperatures because they have excellent post weld ductility even after long periods of time in high temperature applications.
