What is the first image that you think about when someone refers to the word therapy? To many, it is a notion that is closely related to some form of mental illness, emotional unrest, or crisis. Even the concept of needing therapy may have a taint of stigma, as though something is inherently wrong. Though it is fair to note that therapists often practice treating mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, or dysphoria, this limited view significantly downplays the most potent and transformative aspects of the therapeutic practice.
