While delivery services are nearly a decade-old phenomenon in India, they gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic only. The lockdown was imposed across the country to prevent the spread of the contagious coronavirus, stalling lives to a great extent. However, what kept all of us moving were the app-enabled delivery services in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kanpur, Lucknow and several other parts of India. During the first month of the lockdown, the country witnessed a 24% surge in internet consumption across India with a user base of 574 million back then. Most people were using the internet to order food, groceries and other essential items through the delivery service apps. The trend continues even now.
