Bongs are a type of water pipe that are generally used for smoking cannabis or other substances. They generally correspond to a coliseum where the substance is placed, a stem, a water chamber, and a prophet. Bong come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and designs, and can be made from a range of accoutrements including glass, plastic, and essence. Some bongs feature fresh features similar as percolators or ice catchers, which further filter and cool the smoke.
When the substance is lit, smoke is drawn down the stem and into the water, where it's filtered and cooled before being gobbled through the prophet. This process is said to make the smoke smoother and lower harsh on the throat and lungs compared to other smoking styles.
