How Granite Worktops Have Become Unshakeable As A Kitchen Worktop Choice

Worktops are an essential part of any kitchen and bathroom. They are a surface not simply to place various articles, one may do any type of work on top of them. For instance, chopping vegetables or meat for cooking, blending or mixing something for baking etc are done on worktops. So they are an important surface so choosing a good worktop is more important than simply picking the most aesthetically appealing option. Out of these granite and marble have been known to humankind the longest, but not as worktops. It is worth seeing how they ended up as worktops and how they have become loved as worktops as well. 

Granite- The Igneous Rock

It is well known that granite is an igneous rock and it is found in abundance around the earth's continental crust. It is majorly composed of a few dark minerals, quartz, mica, feldspar. The mix of these components is what gives it its unique colours and patterns. For many many centuries, granite has been used for construction structural purposes, floor and wall tiles, headstones in cemeteries, statue carving and various other uses. As such, it is a stone that is very well known around the world and, in fact, well-loved too. But as worktops, Granite Worktops Essex was introduced in the early 1900s or late 1800s. Back then it was a new and novel thing to use as a kitchen worktop. It was a luxury setting.

But before seeing those reasons let us take a look at how they are made into worktops:

Large blocks of granite are taken out of quarries using various methods. Sometimes they are chiselled out, sometimes drilled and at times blasted too. The result of this is large granite blocks. Then they are cut into smaller slabs using milling machines. These slabs can then be specifically carved to suit the shape and size of kitchens as needed. After this, the worktops are ready to be installed.And once they are installed, they are sealed before they are used.

Granite Worktops Essex is popular for a reason. Granite worktops are easy maintenance. As they are sealed after installation, they become essentially stain resistant. This makes it so that it requires only minimal cleaning. Unlike other worktops, it does not require heavy bleach or cleaning solutions. It can be cleaned with soap and water. It will need to be sealed once a year, and more if it is used more heavily.
