In Magento 1 there was a default functionality that users were allowed to change their password to a distinct string. But in Magento 2 that functionality doesn’t exist. In place of that Magento 2 offers something different. If you’re in Admin Panel to reset the password, Magento 2 will ask customers to follow the reset link sent to their registered mail id.
This is quite convenient for some people as they don’t require to remember a password and can easily reset the password with a single click on email but what if your customer wants to access their account by inserting a specific password, and not by following the reset link sent on mail?
