The Jeep Wrangler YJL Quadratec is a new generation Wrangler JL inspired by the Wrangler YJ created to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the preparer.
The first generation Jeep Wrangler emerged in 1986 under the internal code YJ. After 35 years in business, the Jeep 4×4 has evolved through different generations until reaching the current one, the JL. Now, a specialized preparer has decided to celebrate his 30th anniversary by merging both generations (the first and the current one) into a single car. This is the Jeep Wrangler YJL Quadratec.
Quadratec came about after company founder Ted Wentz bought a new Wrangler YJ in 1989. Unable to buy parts and accessories on the market, Wentz decided to start his own specialty company in Pennsylvania. Now, the preparer has presented his most recent project, the Wrangler YJL, and has decided to modify a current JL inspired by the design of the original YJ that encouraged him to establish the company.
Elements like the wheels, rectangular headlights and Khaki Metallic paint take inspiration from Wentz's 1989 Wrangler YJ. Quadratec partnered with fabricator Greg Henderson to bring this project to life, with a host of custom parts to achieve that retro look that makes it so special. Some of them include LED headlights or Jeep jl rgb halo headlights and taillights, a custom grille, new fenders and running boards. A custom-built 45-degree roll bar and a relocated fuel filler neck behind the license plate have also been installed.
Changes to the interior are minimal, but it offers custom upholstered Corbeau Trailcat seats, an Alpine infotainment system with a 9-inch screen, and custom seatback storage pockets. Quadratec also eliminated the rear seats to improve the space for the trunk.
The Jeep Wrangler YJL Quadratec engine has not been modified, but it features a number of specific upgrades like a Magnaflow exhaust system, Teraflex Alpine RT suspension, Teraflex Falcon Adapt shocks and Steer Smarts steering linkages with new 37-inch wheels and tires. Plus, the build says this is just the beginning of his mod journey. We will be attentive to see what else they present.
