Congratulations. Now everyone can see those beautiful eyes of yours. You have installed eyelash extensions, and now everyone can’t stop talking about your eyes. Having eyelash extensions is an excellent way of drawing attention to your eyes and getting everyone talking.

However, eyelash extensions are an investment, and your extensions have set you back by almost $200 or $300 depending on where you got them done, the length of the lash, and the shape of your eye. So after spending that amount of money, you want to take good care of them.

Why is it Important to Take Care of Your Eyelash Extensions?

Like any other investment you will make in your life, it is critical you take care of it if you want to get the most out of it. Your lash extension glue requires great care, and if you get it right, you will keep your eyelashes clean, and save a ton of money because you won't need to replace them often. Additionally, taking care of your eyelash extensions will help prevent eye infections and keep your eyes looking beautiful for longer.

So, how do you take care of your lash extension, so you can get the most out of it? Well, here are 11 things you can do to take care of your lash extensions.

11 Ways to Get the Most out of Your Lash Extensions

1. Stay Away from Water for the Next 48 hours

Once you have installed a fresh set of lash extensions, you must stay away from water or moisture. This is because the lash adhesive needs time to set in so that your lash can last for an eternity. Also, ensure you use an oil-free makeup remover if you have makeup on. But to be on the safer side, so you don’t have to wash around the eyelash area, do without makeup for 48 hours. If you can't stay without it, just keep makeup to a minimum.

2. Avoid Oil-Based Makeup

The oil loosens the lash adhesive glue that holds the lashes, so you should avoid oil cleansers and makeup removers. Using any of these products will dissolve the lash adhesive glue.

3. Avoid Waterproof Eye Products

When you have lash extensions installed, you don’t need mascara or eyeliner. Eyelash extensions give the same effect as any eye-enhancing makeup (waking up looking like a goddess every day). If you still feel the need to apply makeup, then go the non-waterproof way, so that the eye makeup is easier to remove.

4. Stay Clear of Mechanical Lash Curlers

Having a mechanical lash curler when you have lash extensions on is like applying heat to your eyelash with a miniature iron. You can end up with a nasty bend that won't go away.

5. Show them Love by Giving them a Good Brushing

You should brush your lashes to maintain their fluttery look. But the best way to go about this is not to brush them all the time. Instead, you should only brush them when needed. you should use clean spoolies (you can find them at most beauty shops).

6. Don’t Pull or Pick Your Lashes

Resist the urge to play with your lashes either when cleaning or at any other time during the day. You can end up loosening the lash adhesive, and the false lash may just come off. Additionally, this action can also damage your natural lashes. Losing your natural lash can cost you some extra bucks especially when you need to put infills.

7. Avoid Powerful Showerheads

Don’t use showerheads with ultra-powerful pressure. This can rip your lash and leave you without lashes. Also, be careful not to use hot water as the steam can loosen the glue (especially if the eyelash extension is new. Which means that the lash adhesive glue has not set in yet)

8. Change your Pillowcase

You should switch from a cotton pillowcase to a silk pillowcase. This is because silk pillowcase reduces wrinkles, and frizzy hair, and eliminates the premature loss of lash extensions.

Other things you can do is to;

9. Quit rubbing your eyes,

10. Ease up on eye cream.

11. Sleep on your back instead and not on your side or stomach

If you take care of your lashes by following these simple actions, the next time you will find yourself in a salon to get another extension is in 6 to 8 weeks (except if you decide to remove it yourself).
