The Medical Council of India (MCI) had come up with the Health Minister’s decision of making a document which will allow a medical aspirant to get MBBS direct admission, if he/she has a valid community certificate.
The Notification says that while applying for admission for medical courses, an aspirant should submit the Community Certificate, along with Nationality Certificate and Identity Card.
Getting a seat in medical college is very competitive in India. As per the data of 2017, there were 2.8 lakh students who applied for admission to various medical colleges across the country.
There are various MBBS direct admission programs are available along the various colleges. These colleges have to complete their process of Mbbs direct admission. These admissions are granted on the basis of merit or other factors like poverty etc. Direct Admission programs are generally found in private colleges that offer affordable fees and other amenities like hostels, transport, etc.
The MBBS program is divided into four parts namely 1- Pre-clinical; 2- Clinical; 3- Basic sciences; 4- Senior healthcare course (Students need to undergo training in hospitals). The duration of each part can differ from institution to institution but all these parts together comprise of around seven years which include internship as well.
The admission process of the MBBS course in India is done through a centralized entrance examination. The Indian Medical Council (IMC) conducts the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) every year on a national level. It is a single national level entrance examination for admission to undergraduate medical courses in medical colleges across India.
This exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi on behalf of the IMC, New Delhi. It ranks all those who qualify from NEET among those who have applied for admission to undergraduate medical courses in Government Colleges as well as Private Medical Colleges across India.
