One of the most prestigious records in cricket is the record for the most centuries in cricket. A century is a score of 100 or more runs in a single innings by a batsman. The current record holder for the most centuries in cricket is Sachin Tendulkar of India. Most Double Centuries in Test Cricket

There are only two players who have scored more than 200 runs in a Test match innings on more than one occasion. They are both from India – Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.

Tendulkar achieved the feat on six occasions, while Sehwag did it twice. The other players who have scored a double century in Test cricket are Brian Lara, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Sanath Jayasuriya, Chris Gayle, Younis Khan and Azhar Ali.

Interestingly, all of Tendulkar’s and Sehwag’s double centuries came in winning causes. Lara, Ponting, Jayasuriya, Gayle and Ali’s double centuries also resulted in victories, while Hayden and Khan’s knocks came in draws.

Tendulkar’s first double century came against New Zealand in Wellington in 1999. He followed it up with knocks of 200* against England in Mumbai in 2002, 241 against Australia in Sydney in 2004, 217 against Pakistan in Bangalore in 2005, 200* against South Africa in Gwalior in 2008 and finally 209 against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2009.

Sehwag’s double centuries came against Bangladesh in Dhaka in 2004 and against the West Indies in St. Lucia in 2006. He also has the highest score in Test cricket, an unbeaten 319 against South Africa in Chennai in 2008.

Both Tendulkar and Sehwag are considered to be among the greatest batsmen of all time. Tendulkar is the leading run-scorer and century-maker in both Test cricket and ODIs, while Sehwag is widely regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen in the history of the game.
