Sport is both exhilarating and fun. Not only does a person feel physically relaxed, but they can also release all their frustration into the game and not worry about mood swings. However, with the release of endorphins comes the factor of physical exertion. Those who have been paying for their entire lives feel like their body can handle all the stress, but what many may not realize is that the human body also has many restrictions and limitations that it has to follow to keep healthy moderation.

When pushed beyond the limit, people then have to suffer injuries. Mostly curable, but if not allowed to heal properly can make the person lose their career forever. Even though every single injury has a cure, minor factors remain consistent and can cause the athlete to lose agility and strength. A piece of paper, once crumbled, can not be put back to perfection.

Epicondylitis

Starting with one of the most common instances of injury. This is technically not an injury but inflation in the wrist and elbows. This is also commonly known as tennis elbow or golfers elbow. This occurs when one puts excessive strain on the elbow muscles, causing them to swell up. The easy way to calm the area down is to give them an icing, rest, and take time off from the sports. If left untreated, the strain can get to a point where the person can lose the power to grip material in everyday life. Not only will this affect the person but also make them lose potential towards the sports they love.

Achilles Tendonitis

The Achilles tendon lies at the back of the ankle and connects the foot to the calf. This essential muscle gives the person the control they need to walk in a straight line. This helps with one’s footing and makes it possible for them to stand without feeling as if their foot is loose and not attached to their body.

This injury is common in sports such as badminton and tennis and can very easily occur for those who have used their muscles to the point of breaking. The most common occurrence with this muscle is that it sees a slight tear and needs to be put into the plaster to heal itself again. The person who put this on for you will align your foot so that the incision has more contact with the detached muscle. If the case is a little serious, surgery may be performed to attach the muscle back to its original place. If left untreated, it will leave the person unable to move. If treated and not properly healed, it has the chance of breaking again. During the healing process, the person should not perform major physical activities and take support from things such as clutches.

Concussions

Concussions may not be easily caused but can be dangerous to tackle. A concussion is a mild head injury that causes normal brain functions to slow down to deter from the normal. The most common causes of a concussion are activities that cause your head to jolt forward, backwards, or sideways violently.

Sports such as basketball, volleyball, and netball can cause a concussion. The trauma requires the person who is injured to rest for a few days and make sure they are not performing any major activities. They will also need to visit a doctor. In certain cases, excursion and continuation in play without any medical attention causes the person to be left in a state where they require constant rest for up to 20 hours a day. During the time they are resting, they will feel continuous nausea and headaches. This may also alter your cognitive tendencies to deter.

Though one concussion will not cause any major damage, multiple ones will deform the physical shape of the brain.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear

Your knee has 3 main bones which connect at one point to form the knee itself. Then comes the knee cap, which protects the knee from outside forces. To hold these bones together, your body has muscles. Not only do they keep your bones together, but they are needed to make your knee stable.

To tear these muscles is to have a major impact on one’s playing career. Though these can be repaired, breaking the muscle multiple times and not giving it proper rest will cause the person to lose major control of the knees. Various surgeries will not fix the knee and bring it back to its original form.

Which Sports Players Obtain Such Injuries?

Sports players not only obtain such injuries, but many continue to play through them. Sports that require quick twists and turns commonly cause such injuries. Quick foot movements and tricks make people sustain such injuries.

The most common sports player to obtain such injuries are:

Football

American football requires agility, strength, and brains. The game is quick and can be upredictable till the last minute. Just as a recent book named Shanghai Sun: The Curse Of The General states, the main character loses his NFL career to an injury. Even though he helps his team win their game in the last 7 seconds, he does not play again. The book is an amazing read for those who have a keen eye for history and culture.

Badminton

Badminton is a game of extreme quick-paced movements and mostly involves two or four players playing against each other or in pairs of two. It includes a shuttlecock which is moved along the court with the help of rackets. One needs to move extremely quickly to get to the point of landing, and these rapid and sudden movements can cause major injuries.

Basketball

Everyone is well aware of the long hours a basketball game can last. This game demands stamina and extreme love for the game. With the quick jolts and extremely unpredictable moves, one can sustain injuries in a matter of seconds.

Though every game has its designated risks, all those who have a love for physical activities continue to play them.
