Rio 2016 women's golf gold medalist Inbee Park, 35, has been named to the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) Athlete Commissioner shortlist.
The IOC held its Executive Board meeting in Paris, France, today (Sept. 29) and announced the 32 finalists for the IOC Athlete Commission elections to be held at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In addition to Park, the shortlist includes multiple Olympic gold medalists Allyson Felix (USA) in track and field, Aaron Szilágyi (Hungary) 먹튀검증토토사이트 in fencing and Mariana Pajón (Colombia) in cycling.
The IOC Athletes will be elected by the athletes competing at Paris 2024, with the top four vote-getters from each sport being elected to the IOC Athletes' Commission.
The 23 IOC Athletes are limited to one per National Olympic Committee (NOC) and serve an eight-year term. Yoo Seung-min, who was elected to the IOC Athletes' Commission at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will serve out her term at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and will be succeeded by Park In-bee, who will seek to become South Korea's first female IOC Athlete Commissioner.
Park, who won the first Olympic gold medal in women's golf in 116 years at the Rio Games, became the first Korean candidate for the IOC in August when she was nominated by the Korean Sports Council (KSOC).
For the IOC Athletes' Commission elections, candidates will campaign among participating athletes from the opening of the Athletes' Village at the Paris Olympic Games (July 26-August 11) until the closing of polling stations, during which athletes, who are eligible voters, will vote for the candidates.
