Peppermint is a cross between watermint and spearmint plant, and so it belongs to the mint family. Mostly it is cultivated in North America and Europe. However, India is still the largest exporter of peppermint oil in the world. Going back in the past, peppermint is also being used by many old civilizations. Its botanical name is Mentha piperita. The oil is extracted from the fresh or partially dried leaves of peppermint.
Peppermint has found its usage in so many industries. Let’s discuss some.
First is pharmaceuticals, or we can say it is used in medicines. It is well known for its analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic properties.
he second big industry is oral care, and that includes all products that improve our breath and smell. As I said, the rich smell is so good to the only mask but also counter bad breath.
The third place of its use is as a flavoring agent. If you want strong freshness in your food or beverages, peppermint oil can help there as well.
One more place where it is not much utilized but there is much potential is Skincare. While there are so much researches that are underway to prove its skin-related benefits, the big reason for its less use in this industry is due to the aroma.
