The basic principle of plastic insert molding is similar to that of plastic injection molding. First, a plastic insert is prepared and placed into the mold. Then, melted plastic is injected into the mold cavity and left to cool and harden. The finished plastic part is then removed from the mold.

The only variation is that an additional step is required to insert the plastic into the mold. This ensures that the plastic covers the insert and maintains a consistent wall thickness, without cracks.

HOW DOES Rubber Inserts for Plastic Molding Work?

1

To begin, customize the mold to accommodate the plastic insert. The plastic insert can be placed by hand or by an automated process.

2

Next, inject the melted plastic into the mold cavity.

3

After cooling and solidifying, the plastic is combined with the plastic insert.

4

Open the mold and remove the part.

5

Separate the part from the sprue and post processing.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Rubber Insert Molding And Overmolding

Plastic insert molding and Overmolding are two technologies of adding an additional layer of plastic to an existing plastic component.

There are still some significant distinctions between the two injection molding techniques. Insert molding is a process where a plastic insert that has been pre-made is put into a mold and then plastic is injected into it. While Overmolding is a two-step process where a mold cavity is partially filled with one type of plastic and then another type of plastic is injected to cover the first injection.

EXPLAIN ADVANTAGES OF

Rubber Insert Molding

1. Reduce assembly and labor costs: using insert molding technology, which involves combining plastic injection molding inserts with other thermoplastic materials, can lower assembly and labor expenses.

2. Improve reliability: insert molded plastic parts can be more reliable because each plastic insert is securely fixed in the thermoplastic material, preventing any issues with loose parts or misalignment.

Two decades of focus, fueled by a passion for progress. For nearly 20 years, CN Mould & Plastics has honed its expertise in injection molding mold production. But we don't rest on our laurels. We constantly explore and implement solutions that boost efficiency and productivity, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
