Demand is steadily rising for commercial property near Ruby Kolkata, with a flurry of infrastructural projects that are set to transform the locality into the city’s next major CBD (Central Business District). With its proximity to the GST Bhawan and Passport Office along with corporate offices of several leading companies and reputed educational institutions, the Ruby Crossing is fast becoming the city’s go-to destination for offices. Upcoming projects like Primarc Chambers and others are already reshaping the skyline of the area. Here’s looking at some of these major infrastructural initiatives that are benefiting the Ruby Crossing stretch.

Ruby Crossing Benefits from Skyrocketing Infrastructural Growth

There is higher interest in acquiring office space near Ruby Kolkata, particularly on account of its strategic location. The Crossing offers easy access to a large part of South and East Kolkata while being located on the EM Bypass, Kolkata’s foremost thoroughfare. It is also located near the Maa Flyover that reduces commuting time to various destinations too along with leading company offices, hotels and recreational hubs. There are several infrastructural and connectivity projects that are also contributing towards making it a leading commercial hub of the city.

Here is a closer glimpse of the same:

Metro Expansion- There is immense anticipation regarding skyrocketing demand for commercial property near Ruby Kolkata due to the starting of operations on the Orange Line corridor. The launch is expected to happen soon and it will connect the Kavi Subhas (New Garia) and Hemanta Mukherjee (Ruby) stations. The stretch of 5.4kilometres comprises five stations in total. The New Garia station will also be the transit point between the Airport-New Garia corridor and the Blue Line (between Dakshineswar and New Garia). Passengers will be able to switch between lines easily with a single-ticket framework in place as per the Metro Railway authorities. The stations on the Ruby route will be Hemanta Mukhopadhyay (Ruby zone), Kavi Sukanta (Abhishikta Crossing area), Jyotirindra Nandi (Metro Cash and Carry and Ajoy Nagar), Satyajit Ray (Hiland Park) and Kavi Subhas (New Garia). Upcoming Ruby Flyover- The KMDA (Kolkata Metropolitan Authority) is already planning to build a flyover that covers the stretch between the Ruby Crossing’s Laskarhat zone on the EM Bypass till Metro Cash and Carry which is situated in proximity to Mukundapur. It will run parallel to the metro line and the DPR (detailed project report) preparation is underway, with an aim towards lowering the Ruby Crossing waiting time. The flyover will have three lanes on either of its sides and will undoubtedly free up vehicle movement along the entire stretch. Skywalk for Improved Connectivity- Along with boosting the overall look and feel of the area, the DPR for the Ruby Flyover also has a proposal for a new skywalk. It will help commuters and residents access both sides of the stretch without any hassles. This skywalk is expected to be linked to the exit and entry gates at the Ruby metro station (Hemanta Mukherjee). It will help passengers avoid getting down on the busy thoroughfare to cross over. This is one of the developments that will also give the Ruby Crossing area another facelift. Other Infrastructural Improvements- The Kolkata Traffic Police has also proposed several initiatives to enable smoother movement of traffic and higher pedestrian safety upon the commencement of the metro network. The FOB installation and an underpass are on the way while the KMDA subway is proposed to be made operational in the Kalikapur-Avishikta zone. More high mast lights have also been proposed for installation at the Mandirpara, Ruby and Tagore Park crossings.  These will enhance the safety quotient at these crossings that usually witness substantial flow of pedestrians, especially during peak or rush hours.

These are some of the developments that will eventually transform the Ruby Crossing into the new CBD (Central Business District) of the city, with its excellent connectivity to almost all parts of the city and proximity to the metro network. Several corporates may look to set up their new offices near this zone in order to enhance proximity to the Kolkata International Airport, leading hotels and other business hubs in Sector-V, Salt Lake, and the Rajarhat-New Town zone.

Signing Off

As can be seen, with higher commercial and business growth observed in Kolkata over the last couple of years, there should be sizable demand for office space near Ruby Kolkata, especially once the metro railway network becomes operational. More corporates will seek to shift to this stretch, since it will ensure easy access to both the southern and northern parts of the city along with several areas in East Kolkata. This will prove to be a major boon for commuters and office-goers. At the same time, the flyover will also decongest the stretch while other infrastructural improvements will enable smoother flow of pedestrians and vehicles simultaneously.

Social amenities have also improved considerably in the neighborhood, with easy access to the Acropolis Mall in Kasba and several restaurants, lounges, movie theatres, and more. The Ruby Crossing and EM Bypass stretch is also home to several of the city’s foremost hospitals and healthcare centres while there are several schools and higher education institutions in the surrounding neighbourhood. These are plus points for the overall development of the area along with the upcoming metro network and the highly strategic location on the Bypass.

Expect more projects to be developed in and around the Ruby Crossing, with several leading companies showing interest in the same. Primarc Chambers is one of the major projects that will offer cutting-edge office space in the area and this is expected to be followed by several other ventures in the commercial and office space category here.
