Ryu Hyun-jin, 36, is set to hit the free agent market, and many are wondering if he could reunite with his hometown Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jays Journal, a Toronto Blue Jays fansite, mentioned Hyun-jin Ryu on Monday (Aug. 8) while evaluating players who are eligible for free agency after playing in Toronto this year.

After undergoing elbow ligament reconstruction surgery last June, Ryu returned to the big league mound in August. He started 11 games and threw 52 innings, going 3-3 with a 3.46 ERA. 카지노사이트킴 While his velocity wasn't as good as it used to be, he proved that he could still be a starter with his offspeed pitches and a variety of changeups.

"When Hyun-jin Ryu returned after more than a year off due to surgery, people didn't expect much from him, but he provided stability to the starting rotation in the second half," the Jays Journal wrote.

"Ryu struggled a bit in his final two starts of the season, but based on his season numbers, his return was a successful one. Alec Manoa did what he hadn't done all season and gave Toronto a chance to win."

The Jays Journal believes that Ryu can be competitive in the big leagues next season. "Outside of his first season, when he was a candidate for the American League Cy Young Award, Ryu hasn't lived up to the team's expectations in many ways. His late-season slump and injury issues have been prominent throughout his contract. However, he can still provide value as a big league starter if he is at 100 percent in the upcoming season."

The Jays Journal also left open the possibility of Ryu signing with the Minnesota Twins, who are in need of starting pitching reinforcements. Minnesota parted ways with starters Sonny Gray and Genta Maeda this offseason. Gray signed a three-year, $75 million deal with the St. Louis Cardinals, while Maeda signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Detroit Tigers.

The Jays Journal wrote, "Minnesota lost both Gray and Maeda. Ryu could be valuable to the team in the short term. Minnesota has had success in recent years with veteran starters 29 or older, 사설토토 including Gray, Maeda, Dylan Bundy, Michael Pineda and Rich Hill."
