The nice thing about eating in Singapore, if you’re a vegetarian, is that there are a lot of great vegetarian restaurants on the island. In fact, many restaurants offer vegetarian dishes on their menus.
Even if you’re looking for a specialized, purely vegetarian dining experience, though, you won’t run short of options. To illustrate, we’ll take you through our favorite vegetarian restaurants here today.
Afterglow24 Keong Saik Road
Plant-based, gluten-free, and preservative-free. All of this applies to the food at Afterglow, which is also almost entirely made from scratch and in small batches, for maximum freshness.
Afterglow’s menu includes such dishes as Teriyaki ‘Meat’ Balls (the ‘Meat’ is made of mushroom and rolled oats) and Tomato ‘Barletto’ (barley risotto). They also have dessert options thanks to their recently launched patisserie, Zerah.
Something to note if you plan to try them is that the restaurant, while comfortable and warm, is a little on the small side. It fills up particularly fast on Saturdays, so you may want to order their delivery or takeaway options then.
Veganburg44 Jln Eunos
Who says fast food can’t be vegetarian? VeVeganBurgs the place to go when you want classic, fast comfort food. Pan-grilled, plant-based, fiber-rich goodness in every bite!
The patties here are obviously plant protein and include very good imitations of crab meat as well as bacon and egg. The burgers feature everything from homemade pico de gallo to authentic chilli crab sauce.
They also have a slew of sides and desserts, from cheesy fries to guilt-free cakes.
Anyway, the main reason to go here is that the food is so good that even non-vegetarians tend to forget it’s vegetarian. This is plant-based fast food at its best!
HerbivoreFortune Centre 190 Middle Road #01-13/14
The name of this restaurant pretty much sets your expectations from the start. Helmed by a Japanese chef, this place serves up vegetarian fare cooked in both Japanese and Western styles.
There are a lot of recognisabrecognizablestaples, though. We love the sushi and sashimi dishes, for instance – all of which are vegetarian, which means they’re all made of plant protein. Despite that, they taste surprisingly close to the real thing!
Just keep in mind that this is a popular dining spot. Come weekends, the place is typically full, so it may be better to either order out for weekends or just try it on a weekday.
Nalan13 Stamford Road
It’s hard to beat Indian food when it comes to good vegetarian fare. The rich spicing and flavors of the cuisine tend to make even bland ingredients suddenly stand out and demand attention.
That’s why Nalan had to be on our list. It serves up a lot of South Indian classics like Thosai (crepe with toppings), Dal (split pulses), and Paneer (fresh, acid-set cheese) with an authentic Indian flair.
Probably worth mentioning is that it also does Lunch Specials if you want a full meal during your visit. Aside from that, there are some nice-value set meals that combine things like Rava Onion or Masala Thosai with Idli (rice cakes) and Vadai (fritters).
Elemen9 Raffles Blvd #01-75/75A/76
Elemen is a fun place to go if you want to try different cuisines rendered in vegetarian style. You can get everything from Japanese dishes to Italian ones here!
We’re particularly big fans of their Italian menu, thanks to their assorted truffle pasta and pizzas. That being said, some of their locally-infused dishes are amazing too, like the Laksa Pasta and Fried Kuey Teow.
