Despite the challenges that life threw at him, Poe began publishing his short stories and poetry – determined to make a name for himself. And a name he did make! Although his early works didn’t gain much recognition, they displayed a lot of promise and untapped potential.
“The Raven” was his first famous poem, which built the steps to stardom. The poem is noted for its supernatural atmosphere and narrative. It revolves around a distraught lover who descends into madness after a visit from a mysterious raven.
This poem opened new doors for opportunity, building a strong reputation, eventually leading him to become the master of macabre. His style included a unique blend of dark imagery and psychological complexities taking readers to explore the gloomy depths of the human mind.
A Death Surrounded by Mystery
After Poe was found in a delirious state outside a pub in Baltimore, he was taken to the Washington Hospital, where he took his last breath. The cause of his demise remains uncertain to this day, although various speculations suffice.
Multiple theories surround Poe’s death; some say he died due to alcohol poisoning. Others state that he died due to rabies or even murder. What do you think?
