The National Disability Strategy behind NDIS Disability Support

NDIS Disability Support has been making the life of people living with disabilities easier ever since it has been launched. National Disability Insurance Scheme is a part of the Australian Government’s National Disability Strategy.
This strategy was launched in 2010 and for these 11 years, it has been aiming to improve the life of people living with disabilities, their families, and their caregivers. The National Disability Strategy has identified 6 policy areas in total. These policy areas target the change needed and these are exactly what will be highlighted today.
In today’s society, there are significant barriers that people with a disability face even when exercising their basic rights. However, the national Disability Strategy acknowledges all these blocks and barriers that exist in society.
This strategy acknowledges the significant changes required in the way the government is offering services and in the broader community context. This is making it easier for the NDIS participants to access NDIS disability Support

What does the National Disability Strategy do?

The National Disability Strategy has this vision of making Inclusive Australian Societies. The societies that can ensure that the people with disabilities get to reach their full potential like anybody else. It aims to make the people with disability to be equal members of the community. The National Disability Strategy sets out the practical changes that assist people with disability.
This strategy follows Australia’s Commitment to the UNC on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Under this, the strategy aims to protect, promote and realize the human rights of individuals with disabilities. The strategy ensures the


Provision of national leadership towards the inclusion of people with disability
Offers guidance across all the areas of public policy to be more inclusive and responsive to people with disability
Drives the systems and services to enhance outcomes for people with disability.
Actively engage, inform and involve the overall community to achieve more as an inclusive society.

The Policy Areas of National Disability Strategy:


In regards to the National Disability Strategy, there are 6 policy areas in total:

Inclusiveness and Accessible Communities:

This aims to make a more inclusive and accessible community for people with disability. It includes a physical environment that includes public transport, parks, buildings, housing, etc. to be easily accessible. This further aims to ensure that the digital information and communication technologies are easily accessible to support civic lifestyle

Right’s protection, Justice, and Legislation:

This aims to ensure the statutory protections to always in place. For instance, there must be anti-discrimination measures; complaints mechanisms, advocacy, and the electoral and justice system are in place too. This aims to ensure the human rights of the people with disability are protected at all costs.

Personal and Community Support:

This one aims to ensure the inclusion of people with disability in the broader community. It ensures that the people get to experience person-centered care and support. This should be provided by specialist’s disability services and mainstream services and should include informal care and support.

Economic Security:

This aims to provide economical security to people with disabilities. This includes business opportunities, financial independence, adequate support, and job security for the people with an inability to work. And also the ones who do not have housing

Learning and Skills:

This is the policy area that aims to ensure that people with disability have the necessary knowledge and skills. It ensures that people with disability get to have early childhood education and care, get to attend schools, have further education, vocational education, etc. Also, people with disabilities get to experience an easy transition from education to employment. They get to have life-long learning just like everyone else.

Health and Wellbeing:


This aims to ensure that people with disabilities get to enjoy easily accessible healthcare services. It promotes their health and the interaction between them and the disability system too. This ensures they get to have well-being and enjoyment of life.
