One such individual is Arunima Sinha, an Indian mountain climber who became the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest. In 2011, Sinha was traveling by train when she was attacked by a group of robbers who attempted to steal her gold chain. When she resisted, the robbers pushed her out of the moving train, causing her to lose one of her legs. Despite this horrific ordeal, Sinha refused to be defined by her disability and decided to pursue her dream of climbing Mount Everest.
After extensive training and preparation, Sinha successfully climbed the world's highest mountain in 2013, using a Prosthetic Legs. She later went on to climb other mountains, including Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and has become an inspiration to many people around the world. Another remarkable story is that of Amy Purdy, an American snowboarder who won a bronze medal at the 2014 Paralympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Purdy lost both her legs below the knee due to a severe case of meningitis when she was 19 years old.
