THE CATALYST THAT CREATED KENE NETE
Our Origin
Maestro Esteban and Maestra Orlinda, the guiding forces behind Kene Nete, began their journeys as healers within their local communities from a young age. Driven by a desire to extend their healing abilities to a broader audience, they dedicated over 15 years of their lives working in various westernized retreats in Pucallpa and Iquitos. Yet, they discovered a disconcerting reality: these retreats did not honor the sacred traditions of the Shipibo people.
Despite raising their concerns with the organizers of these retreats, their voices fell on deaf ears. It became apparent that a new approach was necessary—one rooted in the rich traditions of the Shipibo people.
AN UNLIKELY PARTNERSHIP
Our Formation
In the year 2020, a serendipitous encounter took place between Orlina, Esteban, and Urban—a Swedish individual deeply immersed in the exploration of alternative healing practices to introduce to the Western world. United by a shared vision, they embarked on the journey to create an affordable Ayahuasca retreat, situated at the heart of ancient healing traditions, just outside their home village. The objective was clear: a retreat run by the family, adhering to the sacred traditions and healing arts of the Shipibo tribe.
Months of collaboration ensued, leading to the establishment of the retreat. Logistics were meticulously organized, and in April 2021, Kene Nete welcomed its first guest—a significant milestone in the realization of their vision.
