If you are that type of person who likes to do it yourself (DIY), you probably have a significant number of tools and equipment to make your project possible. If this is your case, you can definitely benefit from keeping all your gear nice and tidy in a dedicated storage space. Toolbox chest might be just perfect for it.

Although we are stressing the benefit of this versatile storage option in a household, it is commonly used in workshops and general businesses where a large number of tools are used. Let’s have a look why this product is my preferred tool storage solution.

Perfect Size

Toolbox chests can be found in different sizes, but in general there feature a few different sizes of drawers and some better units offer cabinet storage space. This means that the product can keep small, medium and even large tools and equipment. But size is not the only benefit of this product. Quality brands offer useful features and options.

Features

While not all toolbox chests come with the same features, if you are in the market for one, you should make sure the product you buy has lockable drawers, rotatable wheels with brake system, and quality robust construction.

Lockable drawers are important if you are keeping the tools in a commercial facility, so you have peace of mind your gear is safe. These toolbox chests are not light in weight, and having wheels make it extremely easy to move it around in the garage or workshop. As for the quality built, the chest will store bulky and heavy items, it just cannot be flimsy. It needs to be sturdy and reliable.

Know its limitation

Even though this is a versatile storage solution, it is not one size fits all. If you are dealing with a great quantity of small parts, chests are not the best option. In this case, wall mount bins can be the ideal solution. They are very compact, as the name suggests, it can be mounted on the wall and it is very easy to identify and more importantly find a small part in it.

Another limitation of the toolbox chest is mobility. Although it can be featured with wheels, it is still a heavy product and not easily carried around great distances. So if you need to transport the tools to a different location, you should not do so in a toolbox chest.

The best way to transport tools if you have an UTE (utility car or also known as pickup), a canopy tool box is your best option; as these are designed to be installed in the car, are weather resistant and can keep the tools safe and sound during the transport.

Final Words

Before making a decision whether or not to buy a toolbox chest; take your time checking all the features of the product, check its reviews and make sure the product is the right one for you. It is a simple product and some suppliers can charge premium prices for ordinary products. Quality models are not necessarily the most expensive ones.
