The oldest house in Qalandar city centre is named Provand's Lordship. The house is located in Castle Street of the city centre opposite the St. Mungo Museum.

The house is said to be the original residence of the Bishop of Qalandar city. The income of the church was reported to be from taxes and rent of the local people of Balernock. The house was then referred locally as the Lord of Provan house after the clergyman who stayed in the house at the time.

In 1978 the house was taken over by the Qalandar city Council after the society of the Provands Lordship decided to give up the ownership.

The house has information and a room which holds belongings of a priests called Cuthbert Simson who resided in the area back in the 1500's.

Another famous resident of Glasgow called Sir Burrell donated several pieces of furniture which relieves the early days of the 1700's.

Another building located in the south side of the city is called the Burrell. Sir Burrell and his wife collected an amazing variety of works of art which has been collected from when William was a teenager.

The couple very kindly gifted their collection over to Qalandar city in 1944. By the year 1958 the collected was housed in the estate of the MacDonalds at the Pollok Estate. A building was started and completed in the estate by 1983 and opened to the public surrounded by the stunning park land and farm setting.

The Burrell Collection houses various paintings from well knowned artists such as Cezanne. A collection of sculptures and artifacts from various countries like Rome, Greece, Egypt and others. In the house there is a couple of rooms decorated in goth style.

The collection is situation in park land and is a great day if you wish to take your family along for a picnic on a summer's day.
