4G is obsolete, 5G is in. Well, this is the verdict experts are giving. And with stunning speed and other allied facilities, 5G truly is the future of communication.
What is 5G Core?
5G Core is the backbone of the modern mobile network. The ultra-connectivity speed here is being translated to business flexibility and service differentiation. 5G core software and services establish secure and reliable connectivity to the entire network. The quality of the services is increased and speed reaches the optimum position in terms of network connectivity.
With the introduction of 5G, industry experts are now trying to define how the core network will work in various requirements. A new core network standard 3GPP has been evolved out of this along with the architecture popularly known as 5G Core. This 5GC is a Service-Based Architecture built on cloud technology and network policies.
Types of 5G Core Software and Services
All the four leading mobile network companies in the US like AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon are working with 5G. they are trying to implement as per their understanding and technology. But there are three types of 5G core software and services available in the US. These are:
High Band mmWave 5G:
High Band 5G is the fastest 5G service available till now. It is around 10 times faster than the normal LTE connection and has very little latency. As a result, messages are transferred instantly. But, like any other network, the speed depends also on the position of the tower or transmission unit.
Mid-Band 5G:
Mid Band is those 5G connections that are around 5 to 6 times faster than LTE. It has a smaller footprint compared to low band 5G
Low Band 5G:
Although the name is low, still it is around 20% faster than the traditional 4G LTE services.
Undoubtedly, 5G is the fastest option now in the internet domain. A 4GB movie file usually takes 5 minutes to be downloaded in the existing 4G LTE network whereas the same can be downloaded in 30 seconds if we use 5G. That remains the basic difference between the two. And of course, the speed also differs depending on the types of 5G core software and services used.
