What are Some Upcoming Changes to Reflect in the Accredited Employer Work Visa?

The New Zealand government has implemented certain changes in the Accredited Employer Work Visa starting in November 2023. It will place a cap on the continuous stay for individuals who still need a clear pathway to permanent residency. Migrants not meeting the minimum educational qualifications and occupational and wage criteria for skilled residency need to exit the country before applying for a new AEWV visa.

The maximum duration for the AEWV visa will be extended to a maximum of five years. This will be applicable only on new visas. Migrants that can show they are on pathways to skilled residences may get a chance to get quick approval for AEWV.
