Bucheon Hana OneQ's goal of reaching the quarterfinals, which seemed like a dream, is becoming a reality.
Hana One Q defeated Busan BNK 78-65 in the away game of the 2023-2024 Woori WON Women's Professional Basketball League at Busan Sajik Indoor Gymnasium on the 13th.
The game was very important. Hana OneQ is in a precarious fourth place with a 6-10 record. BNK was looking to make a major comeback after the All-Star break, rebuilding their system with the return of Kim Han-byul. Despite only going 4-13, they are only 2.5 games behind fourth-place Hana OneQ. A win today would have closed the gap to 1.5 games. The race for the top four was foggy.
BNK was on a four-game losing streak just before the All-Star break. However, 바카라사이트 they played back-to-back games against second-place Woori Bank and KB. The games weren't bad. The last game against Woori Bank was a 56-59, three-point loss on March 28.
Hana OneQ was in crisis. They lost their second straight game against Samsung Life. The physical strain on the main core, including Kim Jong-un, Shin Ji-hyun, and Yang In-young, was at its peak. The performance itself was not good.
Hana OneQ's organizational skills were on full display. Kim Jong-un, Yang In-young, Shin Ji-hyun, and Kim Sion Jung Yerim all scored double-digit points on the day. Their even performance means that they didn't rely on any particular player.
Hana OneQ's sharp organizational skills from earlier in the season were on full display.
BNK, on the other hand, relied heavily on Ahn Hye-ji and Kim Han-byul. Both Lee So-hee and Jin Ahn looked shaky in the clutch, as Hana OneQ's strong pressure kept them at bay.
Hana OneQ led 24-12 in the first quarter, but BNK struggled to fight back in the second quarter. Finishing the first half with a 43-38 lead, Hana OneQ pressured BNK with strong activity in the fourth quarter. BNK, on the other hand, suffered from Kim Han-byul's lack of stamina and Ahn Hye-ji's mistakes. Jin Ahn and Lee So-hee were unable to make much of an impact against Hana OneQ's strong defense. In the end, Hana WonQ dominated the game and won by 13 points.
After finishing the 2020-2021 season with 11 wins and 19 losses, Hana Wonq finished last for the second consecutive season. They went 5-25 in 2021-2022 and 6-24 last season. In the process, the team missed out on key players such as Kang Yiul, who was released as a free agent, and lost resources such as Kang Yoo-rim and Lee Hae-ran in hasty trades. It was a combination of poor judgment on the part of the top brass and inexperience on the part of the coaching staff. The performance of the existing players was also problematic.
However, last summer, Hana OneQ completely changed its team colors under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Jung Seok-hwa. He brought in Kim Do-wan, who had proven his leadership skills as the head coach of Samsung Life, re-signed Shin Ji-hyun as a free agent, and brought in Kim Jong-un as a free agent. They also made an unconventional trade for a rookie draft pick and Kim Sion.
All of them have paid off in a positive way. Coming into the season, Hana OneQ was still viewed with a cynical eye, with the main focus of most pundits being 'can they escape the bottom of the table' and '10 wins in a season is not easy'.
However, Hana OneQ has been on a strong upswing since the beginning of the season, led by Kim Ji-hyun, the trio of Shin Ji-hyun and Yang In-young, the growth of Jeong Ye-rim, and the timely play of Kim Sion. They don't break down easily and run a solid defensive system that is completely different from last season.
They have played 17 out of 30 regular season games. 7 wins and 10 losses. That's not quite a 5 percent win rate, but it's very satisfying. Ten wins for the season is within reach. They're also in fourth place in the league, 3.5 games behind BNK. Their chances of reaching the top four are increasing considerably. No one expected Hana OneQ to break through this season and reach the Top 4. It's becoming a reality.
