One of the smallest primates still alive today is the finger monkey. These little monkeys, or pygmy marmosets to some, are now kept as unusual pets. They are considered to be the world's most miniature monkeys.

A mature finger monkey can reach a height of six inches, excluding the tail, and can reach a weight of around 4 to 5 ounces. These tiny primates are classified under a unique genus because of their difference from other types of marmosets. When they are in the wild, they behave more boisterously than when kept in captivity.

The vast majority of finger monkey images feature these small creatures holding onto human fingertips and looking innocently out into the distance. As it grows, though, the tiny creature won't fit on your finger. Another name for these fascinating primates is 'tiny lion' because of the outstanding grip it does when holding onto someone's fingers.

Consult your veterinarian Lexington, KY about the best ways to protect your pet from various health issues.
