The recovery visa, introduced by the New Zealand Government to help with the clean-up from the floods of Auckland and Gabrielle Cyclone, has been a success. More than three hundred applicants have successfully sought the six-month visa since its announcement.
Only a few visa applications have been declined. Regarding processing time, the average time has been three days. The top occupations that have applied for the recovery visa include labourers, domestic cleaners, and commercial cleaners. With every worker helping respond to recent extreme weather events, this initiative has been considered highly successful.
