I think going to bed is one of the most memorable times of the day, just like a lot of parents and grandparents. It's when the world becomes still, the lights go down and the enchantment of a tale brings people together. I composed The Napping Couch, a tale about dreams, family and the comforting sensation of being loved, for this reason.

Why I Believe Storytime Matters So Much
I am a mom and a grandma. I love reading to kids. It's magical to watch a child's eyes brighten during a story.

How The Napping Couch Was Born
My family's comfortable couch served as the inspiration for The Napping Couch.
The couch was more than just a piece of furniture. My kids & grandkids took naps there, curled up to watch TV or listen to stories. Every slumber seemed like a unique journey.
One day, I imagined, what if this couch could keep the dreams of everyone who ever napped on it? What if a tiny bit of enchantment was left behind in each dream?
That idea gave rise to the story of Anthony, a little toddler who visits his grandparents and rests on a very special couch in The Napping Couch. He dreams about vibrant trucks, amiable creatures and undiscovered treasures as he goes to sleep. And when he wakes up, a new truck appears on the blanket!
Every nap adds a new story, a new color and a new dream. To me, that’s what childhood is all about, growing up surrounded by love & comfort.
Why This Story Means So Much to Me
To remind kids (and adults!) that dreams are important, I wrote The Napping Couch.
Every child has a big imagination. Stories let us visit amazing places. Before bed, I wanted to write something simple, kind and full of feeling.
Additionally, I wanted it to be a tale that families could tell their children. To all the parents, grandparents and other caregivers who find time to read to their children, even after a demanding day, I see it as a small love letter.
It makes me happy to hear from readers that their kids ask for The Napping Couch every night. It tells me the story has done what I hoped, made bedtime feel safe, special and full of dreams.
