Riot Games announced on its website on the 29th that MSI will be held from May 1 to 19 at the Financial 融 演艺 in Chengdu with 12 teams from each region participating.

Twelve teams from eight different regions around the world will participate in the MSI. The four teams that passed the play-in stage will join the top four teams from LCK, LPL, LEC, and LCS, with a total of eight teams having bracket stages. Each team will be assigned to four matches to play a best-of-five double elimination match. This MSI offers a different level of perks than ever before. The winning team in the MSI will be awarded a final berth to the LoL World Championship, which will be counted as an additional berth in the region where the winning team belongs. The next best-performing region in the MSI will be given an additional regional seed.

Teams that already qualify for the LoL World Championship by winning the 2024 MSI can only benefit if they advance to the playoffs in Summer, which will take place in their region. However, teams that win the MSI and qualify for the LoL World Championship can only benefit if they advance to the top playoffs in their region's Summer season.
