Select Your Montclair Dentist Carefully
Most people will research their doctors carefully if they have a serious medical condition that is not urgent. They're usually smart. Sometimes we just follow the flow and don't think clearly. Sometimes, this is not the best thing. Even smart people with serious oral health problems will go to any Montclair dentist's office and hope for the best.
It was like they took out the Yellow Pages and closed their eyes. Then, they stopped at random. "Ohh...kay... Dr Megilicutty’s Discount Dental Emporium... seems legitimate." Do not play Russian roulette when choosing your dentist's office. The dentist may be fresh out the school or working with a suspended license. Or maybe not even a dentist at all. Many patients are hesitant to trust Montclair dentists with their hands.
You can do a bit of research on your Montclair dentist. Many dentists have profiles on other websites that allow you to look up information such as where they attended school and where they did their residency. Later in this article, we will show you how to thoroughly investigate a dentist before making your appointment.
By doing your research, you can avoid dental nightmares like these
If you are in the area, your best option is to schedule an appointment with our City Dental Center Montclair. You don't need to believe us. It's a good idea to research other Montclair dentists before you make a decision. People who just called an emergency number or contacted a hotline to make a random appointment with a dentist have suffered terrible consequences. Do your research! Do your homework! It doesn't mean you have to do the same as the people who failed to take the time to find the best dentists in their area. Some suffered severe consequences.
The Tale of Mr. Crist, Amazing Family Dental
There are many stories of dentists who love pulling teeth. The most unpleasant thing that can happen at a dentist's practice is having your tooth pulled. This was the lesson that one man learned the hard way. Christopher Crist, a 21-year old autistic man, was sent to Amazing Family Dental to have two troublesome teeth removed.
After administering painkillers to the man, the dentist began to pull Mr. Crist's tooth. He didn't stop until the last tooth was gone. He told the Huffington Post that they had pulled all of his teeth. Crist later admitted to hospital with a severe infection that had developed after the dental massacre of his teeth.
This dentist did not only do unnecessary tooth extractions on Mr. Crist. Fox News found several others who claimed that the dentist pulled more teeth than they requested. Fox News reports that Rose Hill, a woman from Rose Hill, visited Amazing Family Dental in order to have ONE tooth removed. They ended up removing the entire bottom row of Rose Hill's teeth. Journalists later discovered that the dental office had removed teeth that were not necessary in order to bill the patient for their services.
It seems like a serious move to mutilate your patients' teeth for profit. It may have been easier for them just to pretend that they were pulling teeth. It seems that all these toothless customers will eventually get annoyed at the fact that some reverse toothfairy wannabe is constantly taking their teeth. It's not as strange as it sounds. These things happen all the while if you don't spend the time researching your dentist.
1-800-DENTIST and Doctor Val
Although New York might be quite far from Montclair Dentists, people are still people regardless of where they live. One such individual is "Dr. Val. Dr. Val is a lady called Valbona Yzeiraj who was indicted for practicing dentistry without a license and other crimes. A patient discovered "Dr. Val was found by a patient through the 1-800-DENTIST phone service. Yzeiraj told the man that he required a root canal. She then injected him with anesthesia 19 times and charged $900. Yzeiraj also fooled another man into believing she was a dentist. Evidently, she was treating many people over the course her crimes.
According to the press release, "Valbona YzeIRAJ claimed that she had received dental training in Albania, but was not licensed or trained in the United States." She is accused of taking care of patients at the office she managed for Dr. Jeffrey Schoengold, 3800 Independence Avenue. This was during hours that Dr. Schoengold wasn't there. YZEIRAJ was fired after the dentist found out about her activities. Authorities also claimed that she tried to steal money from the practice when she left.
You can find numerous instances online and on news media sites of people pretending they are dentists if you do your research. This information is available at the click-of-a-button. You don't need to know this. Do it!
Island Dentistry for Children
Pediatric dentistry is a well-respected form of dentistry. As we trust our pediatric dentists to care for our children's health and well-being, so do we. But not all pediatric dentists feel exactly the same way as we at City Dental Centers.
Ashley Boyle, a mother, first brought her 3-year old daughter Finley to Island Dentistry for Children in Kailua. Ashley was told by the Office that she needed six fillings and four root canals. Ms. Boyle went back to the dentist within a month. According to Ms. Boyle's lawsuit, Lilly Geyer (dentist at Island Dentistry for Children) improperly administered anesthetic to the 3-year-old child. The child became in vegetative and died later at the hospital.
According to the lawsuit, Finley was left unattended 26 minutes and was then over-medicated. Meanwhile, the dentist and her staff were busy doing what? Christopher Happy, Honolulu Chief Med Examiner, stated that Boyle "likely" died from the local anesthesia and sedatives she received during the dental procedure.
These are just a few of the horrifying horror stories about bad dentists. Some of the more horrific stories of abuse suffered by others at the hands bad dentists have been left out. Some people don't understand the Hippocratic Oath. The best way to protect your family and yourself is to do your research about the dentist before you make your first appointment.
