How DNA Profiling Works?

Epithelial cells stick to the cotton swab and are used to collect the viable DNA. Hair, nails, can also be used as DNA samples but need to undergo a viability test. After sampling, STR analysis is done, and PCR technology is used to create thousands of copies of the STRs.After the retrieval of many copies of DNA sequences, capillary electrophoresis separates and detects different-sized DNA molecules. Then the molecules are passed to laser sequencing which results in unique DNA profiles. These DNA profiles of the testers are compared to find resemblance. But, in identical twins, the DNA profile can be the same.
