Let's learn more about this and the prices of other insurances that cover Uber.
Uber's basic insurance
One of the main problems with vehicles that work with Uber and other similar platforms is the high accident rate. For this reason, many insurers prefer to avoid insuring vehicles using these platforms.
By default, within the amount of an Uber trip, there is a part that is intended to "shield" Uber users and drivers so that they travel protected, and that in case of accidents, damage to passengers, third parties, driver and vehicles are covered. However, this insurance works only if the application is open.
Because Uber's insurance requires complementary insurance to have full coverage, that is, the driving partner must have insurance that complements that of the platform, and at the level of claims reported for cars destined for Uber, they have begun Specialized insurance for this type of transport platforms is emerging, and although they are more expensive than regular auto insurance, they bring greater benefits.
Insurance moments for Uber
When the driver is connected to the application until it is disconnected, Uber's Civil Liability insurance is automatically activated. This provides protection to third parties, derived from a traffic accident for which the driver is responsible. It includes protection for medical expenses, injuries, death to people outside the vehicle and damage to material assets, in addition to protecting the driver with coverage of legal expenses and payment of damages caused by the driver.
From the time the driver accepts a trip until the end of the trip, the coverage against property damage and/or total theft is activated. However, this option will not be covered if the driver does not have private ERT insurance. Personal accident coverage will also be activated, which covers medical expenses, total and permanent disability or accidental death, regardless of who caused the accident.
From the moment the user gets into the vehicle until he gets out of it, the insurance activates the Traveler's Civil Liability coverage, taking charge of the damages that the user may suffer due to some driver error. Uber covers medical expenses for occupants, material damage that the vehicle may suffer, vehicle theft, incidents that affect the driver, assistance and legal defense. If you have the app disconnected, this insurance does not cover mishaps that happen.
If the car is stolen or due to an accident there is material damage to it, the driver must pay a deductible of 10% of the total commercial value of the vehicle. In some insurers the theft deductible is 20%, especially if it occurs at night.
But since it was mentioned in point 2 that the property damage and total theft coverage will not be activated if the driver does not have a private ERT insurance, it is important to understand about them and what they offer.
