A Grandstream access point can be used to provide wireless internet connectivity for multiple devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and tablets. By connecting the access point to a wired network that has internet connectivity, you can create a wireless network that allows multiple devices to connect and access the internet.

Setting up a Grandstream access point for multiple devices involves the following steps:

  1.       Connect the access point – Start by connecting the access point to a power source and to a network that has internet connectivity. If the access point is to be used as the main source of internet connectivity, then connect it directly to the modem. If it is to be used as a secondary source of connectivity, connect it to an existing network using an Ethernet cable.
  2.       Access the web interface – Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the access point in the address bar. The default IP address is usually 192.168.2.1. This will open the web interface of the access point, which is where all the configuration settings are located.
  3.       Log in to the access point – The default login credentials for the Grandstream access point are username: admin, and password: admin. Enter these credentials and click “Login” to access the web interface.
  4.       Change the login credentials – For security purposes, it is advisable to change the default login credentials to a strong username and password. This can be done by going to the “System” tab and then to the “Account” section.
  5.       Configure the wireless network – To configure the wireless network settings, go to the “Wireless” tab and then to the “Basic” section. Here, you can set the SSID (the name of the wireless network), the security type (WPA2, WPA3, etc.), and the password. It is recommended to use WPA2 or WPA3 security type and a strong password.
  6.       Configure the network settings – To configure the network settings, go to the “Network” tab and then to the “LAN” section. Here, you can set the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers. The default IP address is usually 192.168.2.1, but you can change it to a different IP address in the same subnet as the existing network. The subnet mask and gateway should match the existing network, and the DNS servers can be set to either the router's IP address or the address of a public DNS server.
  7.       Enable DHCP server – To enable the DHCP server, go to the “Network” tab and then to the “DHCP Server” section. Here, you can enable the DHCP server and set the pool of IP addresses that will be assigned to connected devices.
  8.       Save and restart the access point – After all the configurations have been made, save the changes and restart the access point. This is done by going to the “System” tab and then to the “Reboot” section.
  9.       Connect devices – Once the access point has restarted, connect devices to the wireless network by searching for available networks on the device and selecting the SSID of the access point. When asked, provide your wireless network password. The gadget should now have internet connectivity.
