Cold Souls is a compelling blend of R&B/Soul with Hip Hop. Jelrico adores and is inspired by RnB instrumentals that explode with emotion, finding influence in artists like Brent Faiyaz. Cold Souls connects internally for Jelrico and his sentiments regarding romantic relationships; at times laying bare his most intimate thoughts endlessly revolving around love, sex, and heartbreak. Cold Souls is very much defined by its willingness to take risks that payoff beginning with its first track Two Seat; Jelrico's narrates an intimate tale based on his authentic life experience when he ignored his intuitions and felt reluctance to end a relationship with a love interest that ultimately ended up causing him much more damage than he could have ever imagined. The First Moment was written in 2020, all the tracks up to Feening (feat. Michael G) were created at Winston Salem State University in 2022. Why It Never Works is the final track; a fitting climax expressing all the emotions he experienced at the peak of his heartbreak and an attempted vindication of how cold his soul has become to the warmth of love.
