Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a chemical that is used to make resins and polymers. In humans, methyl methacrylate irritates the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. An allergic reaction to cutaneous exposure is possible.
Acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) inhalation doses in humans have been linked to respiratory consequences. Chest tightness, dyspnea, coughing, wheezing, and lower peak flow are some of the respiratory symptoms that can occur after an acute exposure. Humans have also experienced neurological problems after being exposed to Methyl Methacrylate (MMA). Animals exposed to methyl methacrylate by injection and inhalation have been found to develop foetal malformations. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) believes that methyl methacrylate is unlikely to cause cancer in people.

Methyl methacrylate is used to impregnate concrete to make it water-resistant, as well as in medicine and dentistry to create prosthetic devices and as a ceramic filler or cement.
