You must register on the Udyam site, which was developed by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in 2020, if you are a new entrepreneur with a micro, small or medium enterprise. The MSME will be known as Udyam, and the registration process will be known as ‘Udyam Registration,' according to the government. The MSME will receive a permanent registration number and an online certificate at the end of the process. The certificate will include a dynamic QR code that may be used to access the site and information about the company.
There is no need to renew the registration because it is a one-time process that may also be done through the MSME ministry's single window systems at Champions Control Rooms and DICs. It should be emphasized that, except from the Udyam site and single window systems, no other private online or offline system, business, or person is authorized to conduct free MSME registrations. Check for the national insignia on the left corner of the page, as well as MSME Ministry printed beside it, to avoid fraudulent portals.
Furthermore, even if your company engages in many activities, such as production, service, or both, you only need one Udyam registration. These must be stated or added at the same time as the registration.
Those who already have an EM-II, UAM, or any other registration issued by a Ministry of MSME authority would need to re-register.
Let's have a look at who the MSMEs are first:
A microenterprise is one with a capital investment of less than Rs 1 crore and a revenue of less than Rs 5 crore.
A small business has an investment of less than Rs 10 crore and sales of less than Rs 50 crore.
A medium enterprise is defined as a company with a turnover of less than Rs 250 crore and an investment of less than Rs 50 crore.
The MSME registration process is entirely electronic, paperless, and self-declaratory. Only the Adhaar number is required for registration. The Aadhaar number for proprietorship enterprises should be that of the proprietor; for partnership firms, it should be that of the controlling partner; and for a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) business, it should be that of a Karta.
Your investment information, including your Permanent Account Number (PAN), Goods and Services Tax (GST), and turnover, will be pulled from government databases automatically. The online portal, it should be mentioned, is fully connected with the Income Tax and GSTIN systems. As a result, you'll need a PAN and a GSTIN (as per the CGST Act, 2017, and as issued by the Ministry of MSME on March 5, 2021). Data from previous years in which an entrepreneur did not have a PAN, on the other hand, must be self-declared.
