Are you an architect, economist, auditor, accountant, musician, engineer, chemist, or scientist? A broad range of occupational experts can apply for occupational training in Australia through visa 407It allows applicants to participate in workplace-based occupational training in Australia for some reasons. The visa is granted for up to two years, and the primary visa applicant pays a few Australian dollars for visa processing. The processing time may take up to 24 months.

The subclass 407 training visa is more like a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa because it involves a sponsorship, nomination, and visa application. However, the visa is not granted to those who will undertake employment in Australia.

Nomination Types

There are three main nomination types to apply for the visa.

Nomination Type 1- Getting training in the workplace to obtain registration

Occupational training is necessary to get registration, membership, or licensing for your occupation in Australia or your home country.

Looking into the applicant’s prior experience, the duration of the training is necessary for the nominee to obtain registration, membership, or license to work in Australia or their home country.

The applicant must have work experience and the required qualifications to go for the training.

It is the registration requirements that specify the length of training. In other words, the previous experience of the applicant helps decide the duration of the training.

Nomination Type 2- to Enhance Training

The occupational training is provided to improve the present work skills. It is a workplace-based structured training that is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of the nominated person. Nominees are eligible for the training program if their occupation is on the list of eligible skilled occupations. It also involves the recent and prior experience of the nominee that must not be 24 months old before the nomination is lodged. Eligibility for the work experience is either 8 months full-time and 8 months part-time or 24 months of part-time experience.

Nominee Type 3- Capacity Building Overseas

There are two variations for Nominee type 3. The selected applicants for the visa are a manager of an overseas organization or get support from a government agency in Australia or their home country. It involves face-to-face teaching for the company’s managers. They provide the relevant qualifications and employment details as evidence to get approval for the training visa. A letter of support from the government agency is submitted to indicate international capacity building and why it is necessary.
