Casio is recognised for its high-tech timepieces and the long-lasting, ultra-durable G-Shock series. What you may not know is that, like many Swiss watch brands that focus purely on mechanical watchmaking, the approachable Japanese brand has links to the world of motorsports. Casio's most recent timepiece is the product of a collaboration with the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula One team, with whom Casio has maintained a working connection since 2016. The watch, known as the Edifice EQS800, is based on the design and materials used in Formula 1 cars.The dial is made completely of carbon fibre and employs an improved solar charging panel underneath the inset dials to provide a five-month battery reserve when fully charged. The watch is especially designed to charge in low or fluorescent light, so if you're like me and hate going outside during the cold winter months, your watch will still work well. Water resistant to 100 metres, the Edifice EQS800 is further protected with a scratch-resistant mineral crystal. The watch contains a stopwatch, a date display, and a battery level indication, just like many Casio wristwatches. The new Edifice model is available in three variations: EQS800CDB-1AV with stainless steel band and black IP bezel; EQS800CBD-1BV with stainless steel band and blue IP bezel; and EQS800CPB-1AV with black resin band and black IP bezel and case.
