Kang Min-ho (39, Samsung Lions), who has the most appearances in the KBO League, has achieved double-digit home runs for 15 consecutive seasons.
Kang Min-ho started as the 5th batter and catcher in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League game against the Lotte Giants held at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on the 20th, and hit a home run in his second at-bat in the bottom of the third inning.
Coming to the plate with two outs and runners on first and second base in the bottom of the third inning, with the score tied 3-3 after Ryu Ji-hyeok's 2-RBI hit, Kang Min-ho hit a 137 km/h two-seam fastball from Lotte starting pitcher Lee In-bok on a 1-strike count for a 3-run home run over the left-field fence. The distance was 130 m.
Kang Min-ho, who hit his 10th home run of the season, has now hit double-digit home runs for 15 consecutive seasons.
Starting with 23 home runs in 2010 when he was with Lotte, Kang Min-ho has hit double-digit home runs every year up until this year. In 2015, he hit a personal best of 35 home runs in a single season.
Although he has not won any titles such as the home run king, Kang Min-ho has consistently played his part every year. Kang Min-ho, who is currently the KBO League record holder with 2,324 games played, has set another record.
Before Kang Min-ho, there were four players who hit 10 or more home runs for 15 consecutive seasons in the KBO League. They include Choi Jeong (SSG Landers), who has hit double-digit home runs for 19 consecutive seasons up until this season, Choi Hyeong-woo (KIA Tigers), who has hit 17 consecutive seasons, and retired Jang Jong-hoon and Yang Jun-hyuk (both 15 consecutive seasons).
