Small Double Duvet

Buying a duvet can seem like a strange thing to do. There are a lot of different shapes and sizes and colours and prices. We figured we would have a look at the differences between single duvets and double duvets and why it might be that a double duvet is the best option for you.

Size

A duvet is a pretty big object. As an adult, you are sleeping over 3 meters of soft material. A double duvet is approximately 2.5 meters by 2.5 meters. This makes it 3 x 3 meters. A single duvet on the other hand is about 2 meters by 2 meters. Read more info about Small Double Duvet

So will this make a difference?

Yes. At roughly 1.5 meters shorter than a Double duvet, you will be reducing the amount of blankets you will need at night. Even if you do sleep with a blanket, you will only need to use one, providing yourself more storage space.

What about a single person?
A single duvet is probably the most comfortable option for one person. At approximately 1.5 meters, you should be able to fit it nicely in a single bed. You can also cover a single person with a duvet that is more than a meter long. However, you would either need a fairly deep single bed or the mattress would need to be especially deep.

Some duvets are longer than a single duvet. The Kid’s Friends has one which is 2.6 meters long and 2.2 meters wide. The adult sizes have deeper pockets. At approximately 2.9 meters long and 2.6 meters wide, you can make most standard single beds deep enough for an adult.

Price
A single duvet is much cheaper than a Double duvet. A Single duvet is usually in the range of £25 – £30 whereas a Double duvet is in the range of £50 – £60.

Why would you pay more than double the price?
Well, a Double duvet is great for two adults. If you are sleeping over your partner’s duvet every night, you will need to get two. One of the benefits of a double duvet is that the covers can be changed, so you are not wasting money by buying duvets which you can’t use.

There is also the added benefit that a Double duvet has more material. A double duvet usually has twice as many square inches of material as a Single duvet. This means that it is bigger than a Single duvet but cheaper than a Double duvet.

So a Double duvet is a better option?

Yes it is. If you are planning on sharing a double duvet with your partner, then you will be saving yourself money by opting for a double duvet. If you are a single person sleeping on your own then a single duvet is probably the most comfortable option.
