The City Highway In Sarajevo Was Declared A Public Interest Of The FBiH

As they announced, the development of investment and technical documentation for the construction of this road, obtaining urban approval and carrying out procedures for land expropriation with facilities and infrastructure is underway.

They said that the construction of this road is one of the priorities for FBiH, and they stated that its construction will significantly reduce traffic jams, shorten travel time and improve the safety of all road users in the direction of Stup - Buća Potok - Pofalići - Velešići - Bentbaša.

We remind you that the activities for the continuation of the construction of the city highway, i.e. expressways, started last year, when, on the proposal of the Committee for Transport and Communications of the FBiH Parliament, the entity government allocated certain funds for the preparation of project documentation, and a few months ago, part of the funds for construction and expropriation.

"In order for the project to be realized, to obtain the necessary approvals required for the building permit, the Government entrusted the FBiH Roads, as the legal successor of the former Road Fund, which previously led activities around this project, when the tunnels through Koševsko Brdo and part of the pillars in Velešići are completed. , to initiate the necessary activities, including the declaration of general interest," it was stated.

Elmedin Voloder, civil engineer and member of the Federal Parliament, who is involved in this project, told Klix.ba that the study and part of the project documentation, i.e. the main project for the section from the current end of the highway to the future interchange, is being prepared. in Buća Potok.

Update: In 2021, we wrote about the construction of the city highway in Sarajevo. Although it was planned decades ago, the realization of the city highway in Sarajevo has not yet started. The route for the city highway remained the same: Briješće, Boljakov Potok, Pofalići, Velešići, Koševsko Brdo, Koševo, Bjelave, Vratnik, and all the way to Bembaša.

However, the city highway has not been forgotten. When it comes to the city highway through Sarajevo, the study, design and revision of the project documentation are currently underway in two phases. The first phase is the creation of a conceptual design for the section of the city highway through Sarajevo Briješće, Boljakov Potok-Buća Potok, and the second phase is the conceptual design for the interchange in the Velešići settlement, which is located on the section of the Briješće - Buća Potok - Pofalići - Velešići - Bentbaša highway. .

The biggest challenge when it comes to the construction of the city highway through Sarajevo is the expropriation of land and various buildings, residential private buildings, but also various buildings that are currently in public use. For this reason, it was decided to use the already existing railway corridor that stretches along this route in the construction of this road.

According to the original plans, the route of the city highway led through Drinska Street and Safeta Zajka Street, therefore the Sarajevo Canton Planning Institute proposed that the route be changed and that the new route runs with the railway route.

It is also important to note that the entire project should be implemented by the company Autoceste FBiH, and a new railway should be built with the same project, which would be in charge of the FBiH Railways.
