The objective of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in introducing ISO 50001 Certification was to instill a sense of responsibility among the global business community regarding sustainable development. It was introduced on 15th June with the aim of formalizing the ISO certification process for recognizing the efforts in maintaining systematic energy management and promoting energy efficiency among the organizations.
In the latest edition of ISO 50001 Certification, which was published in 2018, the scope of the management system has been widened for its better integration with other management systems.
