The most exciting part of cricket, one of the most popular sports in the world, is batting. When a hitter hits a six, the crowd's roar drowns out all other sounds. Everyone enjoys watching batters play, but One-Day International games are especially fun. In the short-format T20 match, batters are limited by overs and come and go quickly. In ODIs, however, fans get the opportunity to see their favorite players play for lengthy periods of time and display their skills. It was in 1971 when this format first appeared. On July 5, 1971, Australia and England played their first One-Day International (ODI) match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. When a player reaches 100 runs for a century in One-Day International (ODI) cricket, it is regarded as one of his best accomplishments. Most of the top batters in the world have accumulated several hundreds throughout their careers.

Players With Most Centuries In ODI

Interestingly, the top three players with the most centuries in ODI are all Indian. Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are at the top. Despite being far behind in terms of numbers, Rohit Sharma is placed third. However, Kohli and Sharma are the only two players who are currently active in the Top 10 ODI hundreds list and are expected to add more tons to their tally in upcoming cricket matches. Let's examine a few of these elite players to find out how many hundreds they have accumulated throughout the course of their careers.

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, the former India captain, holds the record for the most hundreds in One-Day Internationals. The batsman had his best year in 2023, especially in the ODI format. In 27 games, he scored 1377 runs at an average of 72.47. This includes six hundred and eight fifties. At the 2023 World Cup, he achieved a singular feat. Tendulkar's record for the most ODI hundreds was equaled when Kohli struck his 49th century in a league match against South Africa. Ten days later, in the first semi-final against New Zealand, Virat Kohli reached the 50 ODI century milestone. At the moment, Kohli is the player with the most hundreds in the 50-over format. At an amazing average of 95.62, Kohli scored 765 runs in 11 innings at the 2023 World Cup, shattering Tendulkar's 2003 record for the most runs in an ODI World Cup edition.

Sachin Tendulkar

Just behind Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar has scored 49 hundreds in 452 innings. In ODI cricket, Tendulkar's stellar career earned him 15 Man of the Series and 62 Man of the Match awards. He has received the most awards of any batsman in the format. In addition to holding the record for the longest ODI career (22 years and 91 days), he also holds the record for the most 90s in an ODI career (18), which equates to 18 Sachin Tendulkar centuries that were lost.

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has the third-most centuries in ODI history with 31 in 254 innings. Having scored three double-hundreds against both Australia and Sri Lanka, he achieved the uncommon feat. Rohit currently holds the record for the highest individual score in One-Day International cricket after smashing 264 runs against Sri Lanka.
