The Yamaha MT-15 V2 is a street bike that is available in India starting at a price of Rs. 1,65,903. It comes in two variants and six different colors, with the top variant priced at Rs. 1,69,908. The bike is powered by a 155cc BS6 engine that produces 18.1 bhp of power and 14.1 Nm of torque. It features both front and rear disc brakes, with an anti-locking braking system (ABS) included.
The 2023 model of the Yamaha MT-15 has received several updates over its predecessor. The most significant upgrade is the addition of a traction control system and a dual-channel ABS, compared to the single-channel ABS on the previous iteration. Additionally, LED turn indicators have been added, and the bike now has full-LED lighting. The LCD instrument cluster remains, with Bluetooth connectivity that can be used in conjunction with a dedicated smartphone app. This app provides access to features like incoming call alerts, SMS and email notifications, phone battery level, fuel consumption tracking, maintenance recommendations, last parked location, and malfunction notifications.
The design of the 2023 model remains unchanged, but Yamaha Motor India has added a new Metallic Black DLX paint option to the color palette, alongside the Ice Fluo-Vermillion, Racing Blue, and Cyan Storm themes. Each color option comes with a different shade for the alloy wheels.
The mechanical specifications of the 2023 MT-15 are similar to its predecessor, but it now comes equipped with an onboard diagnostics (OBD-II) system that monitors emission levels in real-time. The bike's 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injected engine with VVA system delivers a maximum output of 18.1bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2Nm at 7,500rpm. The six-speed gearbox has an assist and slipper clutch mechanism, but no quick-shifter is included.
The bike's hardware retains the 37mm upside-down front forks and rear mono-shock for suspension, while the braking setup comprises a 282mm front disc and a 220mm rear rotor, with a dual-channel ABS and traction control system for added safety. The 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 100/80-section front and 140/70-section rear tires, and the bike has a 10-liter fuel tank. The MT-15 weighs 141kg (kerb).
