Different Between Bearing and Bushing and What to choose

bushings and bearings offer solutions to reduce friction and limit component wear, but each is good to use in different environmental and operating conditions. Choosing right one depends on usage.

These bearings are very simple to build but  are almost always used in conjunction with a complete, reliable and active lubrication system. There are purely “dry” (lubrication-free) plain bearings that can be specified for light-load, low-speed applications. These types of bearing systems typically use polymer bushings, which can be specified, but most industrial applications using sleeve bearings are fully lubricated shaft/hub systems.

It is important to note that these systems must be located in areas of the machine that are reasonably accessible for preventive maintenance or repair, if necessary, since the successful operation of these plain bearing systems depends to a large extent on the presence of saturated lubrication on each dependent is rotation. the shaft in the hub.

Failure of the lubrication system usually results in rapid and catastrophic failure of the entire machine. When an active lubrication system is not feasible for a specific application that must withstand high speeds as well as variable dynamic loads, it is recommended to consider a roller bearing system.

Most of the bearing company in India will suggest you to use bearings rather then using bushings, this is so because if you go with bushing and the load increase in your machinery or application at that time it will breakdown and your work will stop. bearings can handle high pressure and suitable for every application in industry.

MAINTENANCE OF BEARINGS

Handle with care

Bearings are sensitive enough to get broken quickly. As such, it's very vital that they may be saved horizontally in easy and dry surroundings with their packaging intact. Do now no longer disclose them to any airborne contaminants, as even a tiny speck of dust can cause untimely failure. Never hammer or pound them, or follow an immediate pressure on it or its outer ring, that can cause harm to the rolling elements, ensuing misalignment. The maximum vital factor to not forget is to in no way take away bearings from their packaging till equipped for use.

Check the bearing housing and shaft

Whenever a bearing is used for mounting, it's vital that the housing and shaft are inspected for any form of bodily situation or harm. Always use a gentle fabric to wipe the surfaces easily and ensure any nicks and burrs are removed.

CHOOSING BETWEEN BEARING AND BUSHING

While the hub is technically identical to a bearing aside from being a single, self-contained, one-piece device, the bearing is primarily made up of two or more components.

Bushing is more like a bearing used to support a shaft and works with a sliding motion between  moving surfaces, while bearings are not necessarily of the bushing type.

In fact, the bearings are  designed to extend the life of bearings in machines, reduce frictional energy losses and wear, and therefore reduce maintenance costs. Most bearings are used to support rotating shafts in machines. The bushings are mostly made of brass or bronze, while the bearings are self-lubricating
