Personal Profile: Meera Pradhan faces her fear of heights at Kamshet Paragliding

The thought of flying in the air always sent shivers down my spine. I'd always been scared of heights but when my brother challenged me to try paragliding, I thought this is probably my chance of facing my fear. So, I started looking for destinations in India for paragliding and surprisingly came across – Paragliding at Kamshet.

I contemplated a lot before booking myself for it but I had to do it. The Kamshet paragliding price was pretty reasonable and it was also just a few hours away from Mumbai. This Paragliding at Kamshet was a 2-day trip and I was just hoping that I don't back out at the last moment.

My brother and I left early morning since we wanted to avoid the traffic. We reached in the noon, were shown to our rooms and that day we spent relaxing and taking walks. My brother kept teasing me and even asked me a few times if I was sure I was gonna do it. I looked and sounded confident in front of him but was damn scared within.

We met a lot of interesting people, all of who had come for the Kamshet paragliding experience. I left safe knowing that so many people are going to do it and that it wouldn't be that scary.

The day for me to face my fear had arrived. After breakfast, we headed to the take-off spot. My brother asked me to simply live the moment and that this was my chance of experiencing something amazing.

As I wore the gear, was strapped to the equipment I kept asking myself to calm down. I closed my eyes and as we left the ground, I opened my eyes reluctantly.  As I looked below all I could see was a massive land with the stunning Sahyadri hills, water bodies, greenery and beauty that I hadn't witnessed before. Fear had vanished and I couldn’t believe that I’d deprived myself of this experience for so long.

When we were about to land, I thought maybe a little more, just a little more time I wanted to live, flying like a bird.

As we landed, my brother came running to me and hugged me tightly. He said that he was super proud of me and that now we can go for other adventures like trekking and paragliding in the future. The Kamshet paragliding trip had come to an end and it left like an achievement.

Kamshet is beautiful and I think the experience of staying here and trying paragliding is worth it. The Kamshet paragliding price is quite affordable and you’ll find many options as well.
